Vedanta’s $20 Billion Semiconductor Plant Goes to Gujarat – ‘India’s Own Silicon Valley’

“India’s own Silicon Valley is one step closer now.” This is how Anil Agarwal, president of Vedanta Resources, tweeted when announcing that the long-awaited Vedanta-Foxconn semiconductor factory will be installed in Gujarat.

The new company fulfills the Indian government’s request to create a semiconductor hub in the country. Vedanta is the first company to make the announcement of investing in semiconductor manufacturing after the government of Narendra Modi approved a comprehensive program for sustainable semiconductor development and display ecosystem in the country at a total cost of Rs 76,000 crore.
